Church Schedule Church Notes Religious Response to Radical Right resort topic The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware will host a town meeting, "Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, Transgenders and Religion," from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at Metropolitan Community Church, Road 261 (Glade Road), Rehoboth Beach. The public is encouraged to attend at a time when Episcopalians are debating the efficacy of gay priests and marriage ceremonies, and Southern Baptists are boycotting Disney Corp. because they do not discriminate against gays. The keynote speaker, the Rev. Meg Riley, is a director of the Washington office of Faith in Action. She also co-chairs the National Advisory of And Justice for All, which mobilizes heterosexual allies for gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender equality. She will be joined by Meredith Hunter, founder and president of PFLAG of Sussex County, devoted to providing support, advocacy and education regarding sexual orientation issues. Judith Armstrong, president and CEO of Diamond Edge Foundation, a sexual orientation and advocacy group, will participate, along with David Patterson, MCC pastor. Refreshments and a discussion will follow. The Unitarian Universalists will hold a public worship service, Sunday, Aug. 17, 10:30 a.m., at the Boys and Girls Club, 105 NE Front St., Milford, when the Rev. Annual Outdoor Bethel Camp set Aug. 16-24 The 15th Annual Outdoor Bethel Camp will be held in the tabernacle on Bethel Road, threemiles south of Gumboro, Saturday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 24. Services begin at 7:30 p.m. nightly and continue until 9 p.m. Bring a chair; food is served each night prior to the service, except on Sunday. The Epworth Quartet from Laurel will perform Saturday, Aug. 16, while the Rev. Paul Sherwood of Pittsville, Md. will bring the message and Beverly Bromley will furnish the music on Sunday, Aug. 17. Harvey Tyler will be the speaker and The Redeemed will present the music on Monday, Aug. 18, with the Timmons Family singing and the Rev. Bobby Miller of Sharptown, Md., bringing the message on Tuesday, Aug. 19. On Wednesday, Aug. 20, the Rev. Francis Wilson will bring the message and Rusty Baker will sing. The Triumphants of Salisbury, Md. will be in concert on Thursday, Aug. 21, while evangelist for Friday, Aug. 22 will be the Rev. Dr. C. Bruce Revel and The Cash Family of Felton will provide music. The Soldiers of the Cross from Bear will be in concert Saturday, Aug. 23. The final day of Bethel Camp, Sunday, Aug. 24, begins at 2 p.m. with a hymn sing featuring the Veasey Family and Lights of Home. There will be a fellowship meal following this service. At the 7:30 p.m. service, the Lights of Home will provide the music and the pastor of Bethel Church, Carol Loy, will bring the message. Conley's Church offers trip to Turkey, Greece Follow Paul's footsteps through Turkey and Greece this fall with Karen and Randy Booth, visiting churches mentioned in the Book of Revelations.
