Gilligan's in Lewes is a best bet for fine dining on the waterfront With its creative cuisine and stunning views of the Lewes Canal, Gilligan's Restaurant has an envi- able reputation. Under the direction of proprietor Patrick Shehan and executive chef Michael Clampitt, the establish- ment has become celebrated by locals and visitors alike for its fine dining, friendly service and unique atmosphere. Gilligan's menu includes popular appetizers such as the bruschetta - a massive offering of grilled rustic bread with Roma tomatoes, basil, olive oil and a hint of garlic or Drew's Favorite Shrimp which are char-grilled shrimp stuffed with horserad- ish wrapped in smoked bacon and garnished with baby greens and a Dijon mustard thyme vinaigrette. For lunch, enjoy a legendary crab cake sand- wiched, made without filler and served on French bread with a savory remoulade sauce, or a char- grilled London Broil sandwich topped with charred onion-boursin spread, roasted red peppers and watercress. The swordfish sandwich (rubbed with a mild fennel-pepper seasoning on toasted French bread with greens, sherried red onions and a tomato- lime mayonnaise) and salmon club (thinly-sliced Norwegian salmon topped with brie cheese, arugu- la, tomato and red onion slices) aren't to be over- looked, either. Vegetarians will delight in the grilled vegetable sandwich featuring melted fresh mozzarella and portabella mushrooms and served on French bread with a basil mustard sauce. Dinner entrre specialties made famous by Gilli- gan's are the horseradish herb-crusted salmon fea- turing pan-seared salmon served with chive mashed potatoes and a julienne of carrots and fennel and the honey-pecan crusted red snapper served with a juli- enne of Swiss chard and black-eyed pea relish. Hoisin-glazed grilled swordfish served on an Asian ratatouille and chili-rubbed chicken breast with tomatillo-mango salsa and plantain chips are also best bets.
