CAPE GAZETTE - Tuesday, August 21 - Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 31 Beebe PT earns orthopaedic specialist designation Mark Hedetniemi, PT, DPT, a physical therapist with Beebe Medical Center, has been certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a certified specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy. Training Continued from page 30 some trainees. On the push day you would do chest, shoulders and triceps. On the pull day you would do back, biceps and legs. In other words, one day your push muscles are working, and on the other day your pull muscles are working. Work each body part equally hard. Many times you see people in the gym training the mirror muscles that are usually chest, shoulders and arms. If people can see the muscle, then they are more apt to train it. If the cable crossover machine were not in front of the mirrors, I would guess cable crossovers would not be the choice of a lot of gymgo- ers. When Arnold came to this country, his legs weren't up to par with his upper body, so he cut the legs off all of his sweat pants, so he had to look at his legs every day while training. Many times individuals will skip legs and back because they just aren't as much fun as other body parts to train. When one muscle responds quickly to" training it usually means that person wilt trairi that body part even harder and let other body parts lag behind. Training is not a difficult sci- ence, but there is a right way and wrong way. If you know the dif- ference, your success will come more quickly than to a person who doesn't. Hedetniemi, a longtime resident of Delaware, earned his bachelor of arts degree in biology from University of Delaware and his doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He joined Beebe Medical Center in 2003, and his practice areas are in orthopaedics and geri- atrics. According to the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties' online directory of certified clinical specialists, Hedetniemi is one of 21 certified orthopedic specialists in Delaware and the only one practicing from an office in Sussex County. Hedetniemi practices at Beebe Physical Therapy Millsboro, and can be reached at 934-1500. Beebe Physical Therapy Millsboro is located at 232 Mitchell St. and ItEDE'ITqlEMI is open from 8 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., Monday through Friday.
