CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, August 22 - August 28, 1997 - 31 St. Edmond's winds up summer Bible School at the Grove During the week of Aug. 4-8, St. Edmond/St. Jude's Catholic Church conducted Vacation Bible School for over 50 children ages four and up. The theme of the week was "Adventure Fair, God's Kids in Action," with the back- drop of a summer fair. Each day of the week, a fair ac- tivity was developed that linked the Scripture theme of the day. Monday's theme was "Jesus lost and found in the Temple;" on Tuesday, the children studied "Miriam and Moses;" Wednes- day's theme was "David serves Saul; .... The Forgiven Son" was studied Thursday, and wrapping up the week was Friday's theme of "Jesus feeding the 5,000." In addition to the Scriptures, music, crafts, drama, and prayer were uti- lized to make these events come alive. In keeping with the Christian value of caring for the poor, the children and their families made contributions of non-perishable foot items to help feed migrant workers in Sussex County. On Friday, the last day of the Adventure Fair Bible School was held at Grove Park on Rehoboth Avenue, where a musical perfor- mance was given by the children for their parents, families and friends. The event also featured games, songs and refreshments as well as a visit from clown Jennifer Hicks. T-shirts donated by Terry Bart- ley of Bermudas Shops in Re- hoboth and Bethany Beach, taped musical songs and live gold fish were added treasures for each boy and girl attending the camp. This year's Bible School teach- ers were Maria Fraser, Bernadette Hearn, Patty and Matt Verderame, Elaine Carson, Sharon Gandolfo, Jan Ran, Ed Tanner, Alex Gioroso, and Susie O' Huzza. The Bible School's three youth volun- teers were Ashley Kroon, Maria Gandolfo and Jennifer Hicks. Snacks and car-pooling were pro- vided by parents and grandpar- ents.
