RAL hosts screening of
Jack Lewis documentary
The Rehoboth Art League's
Chambers Studio was filled on
Friday, Aug. 8 for the screening of
the Jack Lewis documentary, "If
You Lived Here, You Would Be
Home Now." The 90-minute
movie, which was attended by
Jack Lewis, was produced by
Academy Award nominated film
maker David Petersen.
The documentary shows the im-
pact Lewis has had on Bridgeville,
as well as the beauty and insight
of its townspeople. Bridgeville
has become an astonishing exam-
ple of how one artist, without
money or celebrity, has profound-
ly affected the perceptions and
lives of those least exposed to the
arts. Lewis has had connections
with the Rehoboth Art League
since its beginnings in the 1930s.
A longtime teacher and exhibitor
at the Art League, Lewis was the
first recipient of the Governor's
Award as Visual Artist of the
Year in Delaware in 1981. A pro-
lific artist, he is known for his
many murals on buildings
throughout the state as well as his
travel books including "The
Delaware Scene" (1940), "Chesa-
peake Bay Scene" (1953) and
"Bay and River Delaware"
(1980).
Copies of "If You Lived Here,
You Would Be Home Now," can
be purchased at the Art League at
12 Dodds Lane, Rehoboth Beach,
DE 1997 !.
