Arriving Dailyt , Republicans enjoy Passport Party Sussex County Republieans held their 10th Annual Pass- port Party at Rehoboth Beach Country Club on Aug. 28, al- lowing downstaters and out-of-staters the rare privilege of mingling as Sussex County Republieans for the evening. At top, (l-r) George and dean Vest of Rehoboth Beach are seen with State Treasurer Janet Rzewnieki, who was reeently elected first vice president of the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers, and Roland and Raniona Derrickson. Roland Derrickson is the former Sussex County Republican chairman. Below, other Sussex Republicans in attendance are (l-r) Tom Draper, Leon Trivits of Seaford, known as"Mr. Republi- can in Sussex County," along with Bruce Wright, Ann Simpler and Bill Vernon, all of Rehoboth Beach. NARFE honors Sussex Councilman Cole Sussex County Councilman George Cole spoke at the July monthly meeting of the National Association of Retire d Fed- eral Employees Chapter 1690 at the Rusty Rudder Restaurant in Dewey Beach. Chapter president Noble Simpson presented Cole with a certificate of appreciation on behalf of his efforts for retired federal employees. Cole, center, is shown here with Walt Bessio, Chapter second vice-president, left, and No- ble Simpson, right. In his talk, Cole covered several items in the fiscal year budget for 1996-97. AJnong major issues is the modernization of the county airport. Funded by a cooperative federal effort at state, county and federal levels, the modernization in- cludes a number of safety features including improved light- ing, navigation systems, and overlay of concrete runways.
