MDA telethon accepting donations via Internet The Muscular Dystrophy Asso- .clarion (MDA) and AT&T will work together to support MDA's efforts to fight muscular dystro- phy and other neuromuscular dis- orders.' AT&T will donate AT&T SecureBuy Service that will enable MDA supporters to make secure "cyber" donations over the Internet, for the first time in MDA's 47-year fundraising histo- ry. The site, www.mdausa.org, was designed and donated by AT&T Creati,e Alliance Program member, Phoe. nix New Media, and can now accept online dona- tions. Registered AT&T Secure- Buy Service contributors who donate $25 or more online will receive 100 free minutes of AT&T calls on AT&T Prepaid Calling Cards. AT&T will give away 2.5 million minutes. The site is being hosted by AT&T Web Site Ser- vices. To make on-line contributions, individuals simply log onto the http://www.mdausa.org site and click on the "click to donate" icon. They complete an online registra- tion form, indicate the amount they wish to dot/ate and provide a credit card number. AT&T SecureBuy Service vali- dates the credit card number, and completes the transaction behind layers of security technology that includes firewalls, encryption, secure socket layer and private communications between the donor, MDA's web site and finan- cial transaction networks. Diabetes walkathon set for Oct. 5 T.he American Diabetes Associ- ation has scheduled two Walkto- berfest Walk-a-thon events in Delaware on Sunday, Oct. 5. Par- ticipants may choose to walk in either Lewes or Wilmington.
