Clothes 2 You Cleaners sells Midway business Jae Duk Seo to start new tailoring business Jim Lyons and Chae Su So- Lyons have sold their business, Clothes 2 You Cleaners, the first on-site garment cleaning business in the Lewes-Rehoboth area and the only completely nontoxic "wet cleaner" in Delaware - to a new owner. Clothes 2 You Cleaners' new owner, Fernando Guajardo, met the Lyons through an introduction by Bill Pfaff, a customer and Sussex County director of the Delaware Small Business Development Center. To advance his dream of owning and running a small business, Guajardo asked Pfaff to identify what he consid- ered a model of small business success in Sussex county. Pfaff referred him to Clothes 2 You Cleaners. "Jim and Chae began by intro- ducing me to their workers, espe- cially Chae's brother, Jae Duk Seo, whose talent as a tailor, shirt launderer and presser has con- tributed so much to the business' success. After a quick tour of all the equipment and machines, Chae walked me through the path a garment takes through the plant from the customer back to the customer and gave me a overview of the system and software used to process orders," said Guajardo. Guajardo spent the afternoon sitting in the front lobby watching the operation from a customer's viewpoint. "I was impressed in every way," said Fernando. "The customer service area was attrac- tive and open to the production area; everything was visible and clean. Throughout the afternoon, a steady stream of people brought their cleaning and laundry to the store, most often in the purple nylon bags provided to customers. Each service counter had a candy basket, and most customers took a treat. Whether dropping off or pickingup, service was friendly, personal, quick and efficient. There was lots of conversation." "Because customers have made our business, we want them to know that we have been as careful and thoughtful in selecting our successor as we were in establish- ing Clothes 2 You," said Jim Lyons. "It probably is important that our successor is like us in that he is not fettered by a background in dry cleaning. Most of all, he shares our commitment to quality and customer service." "Our customers have made our business a part of the community. Customers have built our busi- ness," said Chae Su So-Lyon.
