This is in keeping with the underlying goal of the Children's Beach House, to help children with varying degrees of special MHS offers museum docent opportunities The Milton Historical Society is seeking both new and long-time residents of the region to serve as museum docents at its Lydia Black Cannon Museum in his- toric downtown Milton. Docents are the museum hosts, welcoming visitors and acting as guides and interpreters of the exhibit. So far in 2006, 35 peo- ple have participated in docent training and now volunteer regu- larly at the Lydia Black Cannon Museum. The docent training program is a great way to learn about the fascinating history of the area, and docents make an important contribution to the vitality of the museum. Docents are required to attend a five-session training class, and commit themselves to a minimum of four hours volunteer time per month between Memorial Day and Labor Day. In addition, they will attend two continuing educa- tion events per year and volunteer for a minimum of four hours per quarter in the off seasons. The next training class begins from 10 a.m. to noon, Sept. 23 and con- cludes Oct. 21.
