CAPE G - Fr/day, September I - Monday, September 4, 2006 - 83 U.S. Army Chorus to perform at All Saints' Sept. 8-9 For fifty years, The United States Army Chorus has been America's vocal ambassador to the world. Established in 1956 as the vocal counterpart of the U.S. Army Band, The Army Chorus is composed of 28 singers and two pianists and represents the finest musical talent this nation has to offer. A favorite of Presidents, The chorus has preformed regu- larly for every president since Eisenhower; at the library dedica- tions of Presidents Ford, Reagan and Bush; and has performed at the state funerals of Presidents Lyndon Johnson and Ronald Reagan. Often called upon to per- form at White House and Department of State functions, the Chorus is able to serenade world leaders in their native tongue as they are able to sing in dozens of foreign languages. In addition to its numerous community concerts and school outreach programs each year, the U.S. Army Chorus has appeared at Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, The Kennedy Center and other notable concert halls across the country as well as with The National Symphony Orchestra. The members of The U,S. Army Chorus are proud to represent the excellence and professionalism of the thousands of men and women around the world who proudly wear the uniform of the United States Army. At 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8 and 9, the seven baritones of this elite musical ensemble will sing their second Baritones by the Sea concert at All Saints' Church in Rehoboth Beach. Chorus member and Rehoboth Beach res- ident, SFC Alex Helsabeck has taken the lead in organizing the event. "We love combining our baritone "retreat" with a concert performance in Rehoboth. The people here at the beach are so receptive to us and we look for- ward to sharing our music with them again this year." "All of the baritones have mas- ter's degrees in music," Helsabeck said. "Two have doctorates. And when not in uniform, Chorus members serve the arts in other ways. Some perform at the Kennedy Center, others are involved full or part-time in church music. Our accompanist for the concerts again this year, MSG Joseph Holt, who also has a "beach connection" with his sec- ond home in Bethany Beach, serves as the assistant conductor of the Choral Arts Society." This year's program will feature a melange of Frank Sinatra songs from 1939-1966, an opera medley and patriotic songs with many solos throughout. The baritone members performing the August concert are SFC Robert W.
