A small class for tiny students opens in Rehoboth By Jim Westhoff Cape Gazette staff As the public school system in Sussex County gets ready to wel- come thousands of students Tuesday, Sept. 6, a small staff of educators will be welcoming four children to a brand-new kinder- garten. Teacher Colleen Barrett has _been working to get the classroom ready for Little Ones Lutheran Preschool first kindergarten class. The tiny tables, the tiny books and the tiny chairs are ready for the four youngsters. Barrett, who is a fully certified teacher in Delaware, said the small class size is going to work out well. "Kindergarten is a transi- tion year for them, so the smaller size will help." The class will be a half-day morning program. She said the school has space for up to 16 students. She said the school is a bit dif- ferent than public schools. "We have a Christian-based curriculum with a hands-on approach," she said. The school is in Rehoboth Beach, near Big Fish Grill. Orientation begins Sept. 6, and classes begin Sept. 7. There are four students enrolled now, but Barrett said she has room for up to 16 students. Across the hall from the kinder- garten class is the preschool, taught by Beth Davidson. Little Ones has offered a preschool since September 2002. The 3- year-olds have preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the 4-year-olds attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The two-day preschool costs $110 per month, the three-day program costs $135 per month, and the kindergarten costs $200 per month. For more information on the school, call 226-7860. t h;t aWmnm.
