Cape Gazette BUSINESS'& REAL ESTATE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 2013 4S DENNIS FORNEY PHOTO BARBARA AND MARK MOORE stand on the 18th green of their Midway Par 3 golf course. Midway Par 3 to stay open for many years to come Mark and Barbara Moore, pro- prietors of the Midway Par 3 golf course, want the public to know their course is open and will remain open as a golf course for many years ahead. "There is some confusion because of the announcement recently that the land where our driving range is located is being converted into an apartment complex," said Mark. "It's true that the entire property, includ- ing the golf course, was sold for the apartments, but one of the provisions for approval of the plans by the county was that the land where the golf course is must remain forever as open space. That's why the apartment developers were able to get the number of units they wanted approved." Barbara is the daughter of Walt ]ones, who originally purchased the land in 1980 and developed the driving range and golf course. '11 of the willow trees that Walt planted are fully mature now, and the course is in excel- lent shape," said Mark. "We've started planting more trees and shrubs to add to the variety and beauty on the course." Midway Par 3 is located behind the Fair- way Village apartments and beside Bay Crossing along the northbound lanes of Route 1, just before the Kings Highway turnoff into Lewes. The course includes 18 holes as well as a put- ting green and a chipping green.
