; 72 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2013 ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT Cape Gazette RAL Beaux Arts Ball Sept. 21 tops league's anniversary celebrations with guests encouraged to wear costumes or creative hats and/ or masks. Costumed guests will vie for a chance to win one of three prizes for outstanding attire. Judging will be done in secret, and awards will be given in the following three categories: Best Creative Costume for an Indi- vidual, Best Creative Costume for a Couple, and Best Creative Costume for a Table. The judges Part of lineup to honor 75 years The Rehoboth Art League's laux Arts Ball Saturday, Sept. 21, will be the grand event of the season of celebrating the art league's 75th anniversary. The Beaux Arts Ball, a signa- ture event for the Rehoboth Art League since its inception in the late 1930s, will be a dressy affair SUBMITTED PHOTO ED AND CAROLYN LEASURE, parents of Chick Leasure, Beaux Arts Ball com- mittee member, are shown at a ball in the 1950s. will evaluate designs based upon creativity and technical merit with association to the theme, It's All About Art. Guests will arrive at Beacon Middle School to park their cars. They will enjoy a string band and red carpet treatment before being whisked off to the ball at the Belle Mead Farm. This is a unique, exciting venue, opened only for this occasion. THE BEAUX ARTS BALL, A SIGNATURE EVENT FOR THE REHOBOTH ART LEAGUE SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN THE LATE 1930S, WILL BE A DRESSY AFFAIR WITH GUESTS ENCOURAGED TO WEAR COSTUMES OR CREATIVE HATS AND/OR MASKS. Signature cocktails will be served by Dogfish Head while guests view the Living Art, live models painted as Ganesh, lions, an octopus and other characters. Nage, a(MUSE.) and Blue Moon will serve a gourmet dinner, Clear Space Theatre will enter- Lain with some Broadway show tunes, followed by dancg to the 10-piece band Remedy. Tickets are $200 per person, all inclusive. The proceeds from the Beaux Arts Ball will support the art league's education and outreach activities. Sign up now for bus trip to New York City Sept. 28 PFLAG - Rehoboth Beach will sponsor a bus trip to New York City Saturday, Sept. 28. The bus will leave at 7 a.m. from Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach. The bus will arrive in the Times Square area about 10:30 a.m. The bus will leave NYC at 7 p.m. for the return trip. Seats are avail- able for $50, with $10 being donated to PFLAG - Rehoboth Beach. In addition, the league works with other community agencies and local schools to offer free art experiences to youth and adults, including the Young at Art program.
