The Volkswagen Enthusiasts of the Delaware Valley have an- nounced their second annual "Cruise to the Beach" to be held Sunday, Sept. 15. Jerry Lamb, owner of Aloha! Rehoboth, located at 33B Balti- more Ave., said the road rally, which will include a road quiz and clue contest, will begin at 9 a.m. at Larkin's Comer Shopping Center in Chester, Pa. Delaware drivers may want to join in at the first checkpoint in Smyrna at 10 a.m., or local VW fans may greet the roadsters at the final staging point near the County Bank on Rt. 1 at 11:30 a.m. Lamb said the purpose of the road rally was to give VW owners and fans an opportunity to share the "VW Experience," which he explained consists of showing off restored cars, sharing mainte- nance "war stories," and promot- ing the Wolfsburg spirit of self-re- liance and efficiency fostered by the air-cooled cars. (Later model water cooled VW's are also wel- comed to join in the group's activ- ities). While in Rehoboth Beach, the Volkswagen enthusiasts will con- duct an informal cruise around Rehoboth Avenue, share a pool side BYO picnic lunch at Lamb's residence at 10 Cornwall Rd. in the Rehoboth Beach Yacht & Country Club and enjoy optional activities in the pool, at the beach, or patronizing local downtown merchants, including Aloha! Re- hoboth which just happens to have an extensive assortment of toy VW's mixed in with their authen- tic Hawaiian food, clothing, gifts and tropical Beanie Babies. Local VW's owners or fans are welcomed to join in the festivities. For more information call 226- 3737 or 226-0598.
