Milford Chamber plans Seventh Fall Fling Sept. 27-29
The kids are back in school, food, fun, and family activities. Saturday is always the big day and flea market tables will be profit groups from the greater
football action is on the gridiron,
and the sound of geese can be
heard flying overhead. That can
only mean that Milford's Fall
Fling is just around the corner!
The Seventh Annual Milford
Fall Fling, again hosted by the
Chamber of Commerce for
Greater Milford, is set for Sept.
27-29 at locations throughout the
Milford community.
Diane Lank, 1996 Fall Fling
chairperson, and Trish Herholdt,
the chamber's new special events
coordinator, promise something
for everyone at this year's event.
From hot dogs to dog jogs, street
dancing to ferris wheel riding,

the airport. That is what we are
trying to do," Calio explained.
Calio and Bob Stickels, the Sus-
sex County Administrator, esti-
mated that the hangars can make
some money for the county.
Building a hangar is expected to
cost $200,000 and is expected to
yield an estimated profit of
$40,000 spread over 15 years.
The $250 fee is roughly compa-
rable with that charged by similar
operations.

Festivities get underway on Fri-
day evening, Sept. 27, with a fam-
ily-oriented street dance along the
Mispillion River and Walnut
Street in downtown Milford. At 7
p.m., Alex Vaughn DJ. Services
will begin spinning tunes and en-
tertaining autumn revelers with a
variety of pre-recorded music.
Downtown Milford Inc. will be
passing out balloons and glow
sticks for the kids, and soda and
popcorn for all.
Friday evening also signals the
start of the Taylor & Sons, Inc.
carnival, located at the Plaza at

rides and games open at 6 p.m.
and run well into the night.
minimum ot $225 per month.
Councilman George Cole ar-
gued that the county ought to be
making more money and that the
county should be wary of not
charging enough.
But Council President Dale
Dukes, Calio and Stickels said it
would be better to charge a lower
price and attract more clients so
the facilities do not sit idle. The
county can raise the prices, al-
though there will be caps on the
amount of rent increase per year.
Fifteen percent was discussed as a
cap figure Tuesday.
Cole disagreed, but ultimately
voted for the idea. "If we can
of the Fall Fling as Bicentennial
Park and the Milford Shopping
Center on N.E. Front Street come
alive with autumn activity. Get-
ring events off to a running start is
the Fall Fling Biathalon featuring
running and bicycling competi-
tions. Registration for the 5K run
and the 19K bike event will be at
the Library Square Ampitheater
(along the Mispillion River Walk)
from 7 to 7:30 Saturday morning.
Prizes will be awarded in eight so-
lo and group categories.
At 9 a.m. the Fall Fling official-
ly opens at Bicentennial Park.
Dozens of arts and crafts exhibits,
business and community informa-
tional displays, childrens' games
make money, I don't see why it is
so awful for us to make money."
Calio said that he has had sever-
al inquiries about the project. He
did not give specifics of which
businesses had expressed interest
in the project. The hangars would
be located on ground at the airport
which is near the state police
hangar.
The project can be completed
with reserve monies, meaning no
tax increase is necessary.
The measure required a super
majority of four votes, more than
the usual three affirmative votes.
All five county councilmen voted
for the project, although Cole did
object to the rental cost.
