The team repeated as champions, followed by CrossFit Lewes - Channel One Elite and Striper Bites. The three teams were sep- arated by one-half second. Blazing Paddles saved their best for the last round after finishing in fourth place in the two qualifying rounds. The Sept. 13 evenL benefiting Sussex Academy, involved 36 teams and more than 800 participants who paddled a course set up in the Lewes- Rehoboth Canal. Ellis, 84, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Beebe Health- care in Lewes. She was born March 21, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., daughter of the late James and Evelyn (Townsend) McCrory. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by John Cole Ellis, her husband of 48 years. Joan is survived by her daugh- ter, Robin Woody of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; her son, Daniel Ellis and his wife Nancy of Annandale, Va.; three grandsons, Michael Ellis, Jeffrey and his wife Dani- elle Scialdo, and James Gorman; her niece Susan Garwood; and brother-in-law Charles Ellis and wife Ann. Joan attended North- western University, and enjoyed reading, Bridge; cooking, enter- taining, tenni and travel. A Celebration of Life was held Monday, Sept. 14, at Parsell Fu- neral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Inter- ment will be private.
