Fawcett, 80, of New- port, passed away Sept. 20, 2008, peacefully at Heartland Hospice House with family and friends by her side. Erma was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grand- mother. She lived all her life in Delaware and enjoyed taking her family for vacations at the beach where she and her late husband, Mitchell had a vacation home at Long Neck. Her favorite hobby was cooking and she most en- joyed having dinners at her house where everyone could gather to enjoy her cooking. She will be missed greatly. She was predeceased by her husband, Mitchell R. Fawcett Jr.; her daughters, Michele and De- bra Fawcett; and by her great- grandchildren, Nicholas and Lil- lian. Erma is survived by her children, Mitchell R. Fawcett Jr. and his wife Beverly of Middle- town, David Fawcett and his wife Deborah of Newark, and Scott Fawcett and his wife Sharon of Long Neck; her grandchildren, David Jr., ]effrey, Rebecca, Michael and Bradford Fawcett, Katie Carotenuto and Tracy Burns; her great-grandchildren, Jimmy;, Caleb, Isabel Elizabeth, Madelyn and Leah; and her brother, William David. Relatives and friends are invit- ed to attend the funeral service at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 25. Burial will be in Silver- brook Cemetery, Wilmington. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the fu- neral home. Marina Borrero Torbert, retired registered nurse Marina Borrero Torbert of Milford, 85, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2008, at Capitol Health Care Ser- vices in Dover. Marina was a registered nurse at Lewes Convalescent Center for several years and retired in 1982. She moved in 1951 from Brooklyn, N.Y., to Delaware and had resided with her husband in New Castle, Lewes and Milford. She enjoyed knitting and cro- cheting. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard C. "Rick" Torbert; two sons, Terry Torbert and wife Debra of Newark, and Tom Torbert of Milton; three grandchildren, Christopher Tor- bert, Tracy Pellitier and Michael Torbert; and two great-grand- children, Joshua and Regan Tor- bert. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the SP- CA, 22918 Dupont Hwy., George- town, DE 19947. Esther L. Lackman, talented quilter Esther Lorraine Lackman, 89, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2008, at her res- idence with family at her side. She was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Springfield, Mass., daughter of the late Henry W. Voudren and Grace Vou- dren Hannon. Mrs. Lack- man was a member of All Saints' Episco- pal Church in Rehoboth Beach and was a talented Esther Lackman quilter for her family and friends and her church group the "Sew-Sews." She was an avid golfer at many golf clubs around the country and most recently at the Reh0both Beach Country Club. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Longrneadow, Mass., and the AS- PCA in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lewis R. "Rocky" Lackman Sr. in 1999; three brothers, Earl V., Herbert W. and Henry N. Voudren; and seven-sisters, EHen Stanley, Gladys Lehrer, Geneva Schmerier, Virginia Cornine, Constance Stanton, June Eccles and Unice Voudren. She is sur- vived by her daughter, Libby G. Gibson and her husband William of Lewes; three sons, George Lackman and his wife Lois of W. Springfield, Mass., Lewis R. "Rocky" Lackman Jr. and his wife Patricia of Zebulon, N.C., and Scott L. Lackman Sr. and his wife Pamela of Orefield, Pa.; 14 grand- children; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchil- dren. A Memorial Service will be at noon, Saturday, Sept. 27, at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach. In- terment will be private at All Saints' Cemetery, Beaver Dam Road, near Angola. Arrange- ments are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crema- torium, Lewes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to a charity of your choice. S. Arthur Shelley, DuPont retiree S. Arthur 'Art" Shelley, 78, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 18, 2008, at his residence. Born in Altoona, Pa., Art was the son of the late Samuel and Mary Krepps Shelley. He worked for DuPont for more than 30 years, retiring in 1985 as manager of the Records Service Divi- sion. Art was an active mem- ber of Ep- worth United Methodist Church, and a member of the Chancel S. Arthur Shelley Choir. He was also a member of Kings Creek Country Club.
