Downstate chamber sets candidate's forum Oct. 8 The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce will host its general membership meeting at 8 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, at Man- go's oceanfront restaurant in Bethany Beach. Candidates for the position of state treasurer, attorne)/:general, 38th District representative and Sussex County Council District 4 will be present and will start the forum by giving a two-minute statement, followed by a question- and-answer session. Candidates taking part are State Treasurer Janet Rzewnicki and Jack A. Markell for the office of state treasurer; Attorney General Jane Brady and John T. Dorsey for attorney general; council Rep- resentative George B. Cole and Dewey Beach Mayor Bob Freder- ick for Sussex County Council District 4, and Rep. Shirley Price and William O. Murray for the 38th District representative. Chamber members and nonmem- bers are welcome. The breakfast includes beverage and gratuity. Reservations should be made by Oct. 7 by calling 539- 2100. o Prudential Gallo announces staff changes Stacy Truitt has been named a rental agent at Prudential Gailo Real- tors's Re- hoboth Beach office. Truitt previously worked in the rental depart- ment as an assistant. She TRUITT will serve clients' rental needs in the Re- hoboth Beach- Dewey Beach area, and can be reached at 227-6554. Jo-Ann Bacher will be taking over the du- ties as rental BACHER manager in the depart- ment. She will work closely with former manager Michelle Meyer, who will remain a rental agent, along with veteran agents Dawn Bushey and Carla Miller and new- comer Truitt. Cresson joins Cape Gazette news staff Jim Cresson, a longtime Delaware newspaperman, has joined the Cape Gazette staff as a general assignment reporter, ac- cording to,Editor Trish Vernon. [ Cresson s first job as a teenager] was delivering a newspaper on his I bicycle in his hometown of Mil- I ford. It was the beginning of a lifelong career - and love of bringing the local news to his neighbors. While in school, he was associate CRESSON editor of the monthly newspaper at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Va. In college, he became editor of the campus weekly at Tusculum College in Greenville, Tenn. Fol- lowing school, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam as a combat correspondent. Since the late 1960s, Cresson hasreported the news and been a columnist for the "Delaware State News," "The Harrington Journal," "The Salisbury Daily News" and "Delaware Coast Press." He has been associate editor of "The Mid- dletown Transcript," editor of "The Delaware Wave" and pub- lisher of "The Long Neck Back Bay News." "We're happy to welcome Jim to our staff, as he brings with him a background of many years of solid reporting. We believe he'll be an asset to what is by far the strongest news team in downstate Delaware," Vernon noted.
