CAPE G, Priday, September 25 - October 1, 1998 - 77 Tickets on sale for Delmarva Museums Mall preview party Oct. 9 Tickets are now on sale for the Delmarva Museums Mall Preview Party, set for 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, at the Visitors' Center in Bridgevi!le. Tickets for the event, spon- sored by the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce, are $10 per person and can be purchased by calling or visiting the visitor's center at Bridgeville, 337-8877. The Delmarva Museums Mall, scheduled for Oct. 9-10, willcoincide with the annual Apple-Scrapple Festival held in Bridgeville. Free shuttle service will be of- fered between the Visitors Center and downtown Bridgeville, the site of the festi- val. The preview party will feature a collec- tion of some of Delmarva's best museums. Museum-quality merchandise, including Delaware, Maryland and Virginia memora- bilia, will be on sale. Friday evening's af- fair will include wine and other beverages, along with meatballs, quiche, jerk chicken, tiny wieners, spinach wheels, fruit and veg- etable platters, and to celebrate the Apple- Scrapple Festival, apple desserts. Live en- tertainment, museum displays and cos- tumed docents will also be a part of the Fri- day evening preview. "We have participated in museum store festivals in the Mid-Atlantic Region and find that they aPe very popular," said Kristin Pleasanton, manager of the Visitors Center in Bridgeville. "Fall is a great time of year for museum shopping because a lot of people do their holiday shopping." Museums that have registered to partici- pate include: the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base, Ross Plantation and Seaford Museum, Barratt's Chapel, Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village, Delaware State Museums, Nanticoke Indian Museum and Treasures of the Sea, all in Delaware. From Maryland, participating museums inClude Furnace Town Historic Site, the John B. Richardson Museum, Museum of Rural Life; Sudlersville Train Station Museum and Teackle Museum. Representing Virginia will be Kerr Place Mansion. This cultural tourism event will feature Delmarva history, including historic man- sions, shipwreck treasures, Native Ameri- can history, maritime history, 19th century crafts, rural life on Delmarva, aircraft, trains and more. Corporate sponsors of the event include Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Walmart of Seaford, "Delaware State News," "Seaford Leader and Regis- ter," Delaware State Chamber of Com- merce, Delaware State Museums, Kent Doverartist to be featured Artwork by Dover artist Adrian Guajardo has been chosen as the official logo of the Delmarva Museums Mall, a museum show- case event slated for Oct. 9-10 at the Visi- tors Center in BridgeviUe, to coincide with the Apple-Scrapple Festival. Guajardo is a part-time employee of Delaware State Museums and is often com- missioned to create artwork in various mediums, including oils and pen-and-ink il- lustrations. He also owns his own business, Advanced Art, located in a small 19th cen- tury garret above W.T. Smithers Restaurant in Dover. Guajardo specializes in portrai- ture of any kind, glass engravings, loges, County Convention and Visitors r Bureau, Dover Lithe Printing, Marshall, Wagner Jones & Associates and the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce. In addition to the Delmarva Museums Mall, Guajardo's work will also be on dis- play at the 1998 Capital City Fall Tour of the Arts, set for Oct. 23-24 in Dover.
