CAPE GAZETI, Friday, September 25 - October 1, 1998 - 87 From The Ca Gazette's Traveler Series* Bob Bowden photos Lewes Little League presents awards Lewes Little League held end.of.the-season closing cere- monies on Saturday, Sept. 19, with a barbecue and awards ceremonies. Among those who received awards were mem- bers of the Lewes Little League all-star teams who competed in District 3 (Sussex County) tournament games. The photo above shows the girls 9- and 10-year-old all-stars. Standing are (l-r) Tom Shinn, coach; Stephanie Hopkins; Mary Sing; Jessie Shinn; and Stephen Fanto, coach. Kneeling are (l-r) Jennifer Warren, Kelsey Spence, Katelyn Fanto, Meghan Lee, Bethany Pavlik and Caitlyn Hopkins. In the photo below are members of the girls 11- and 12-year-old all-stars. Standing (l- r) are Jacki Warren, Sam Coveleski, Corey Hopkins and Lisa Williams. Kneeling are (l-r) Gina D'Amico, Kellie Tappan, Becky Copp, Staci Warrington and Nicky Rhoades. The bot- tom photo shows members of the Major League boys all-stars who won the District 3 championship. A team including many of these players is planning a Cliristmas trip to Florida to play in a Little League tournament. Staying on top with the Cape Gazette Members of the Bryan, Dyer and Merryman clans of Lewes, Rehoboth Beach and Bethany Beach, respectively, traveled to the top of Colorado's snowy peaks in January of 1998 to see how well the Cape Gazette held up in the thin air of Aspen. In addition to enjoying reading the newspaper, they also enjoyed skiing and snowboarding. Shown in the crowd are John, Gloria, John Jr. and Michael Merryman; Dick, Cindi, Tyler and Jordan Bryan; and Prett, Debbie, Tripp, Mason and Madison Dyer.
