Aunt Holly's Restaurant has homemade goodness for breakfast, lure:It and dinner Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, you just can't miss with Aunt Holly's Restaurant. Located on Route 1 in the Midway Shopping Center, Holly's opened this past spring and has been doing a boom- ing business ever since. Owned by Ward and Kim Ewing, Aunt Holly's Delaware location is its second restaurant on the Eastern Shore. Its Kent Island counterpart, located on Route 50 near the Bay Bridge, has been a popu- lar family eatery since 1955, when Thomas Ewing founded the business. Ward, Kim and their son, Jameson, are maintain- ing Aunt Holly's reputation for serving old-fash- ioned food at reasonable prices. From breakfast basics to delicious lunch and din- ner choices and homemade ice cream, Aunt Holly's is open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily. Diners visit- ing Aunt Holly's for the first time will want to make note of those items marked with a holly leaf as orig- inal 1955 recipes. Breakfast offerings include early morning favorites such as scrapple, steak and eggs, cream chipped beef, French Toast and the Shoreman's Breakfast (two pancakes, two eggs cooked any style, two slices of bacon and two sausage links). For lunch, Holly's has something to suit every- one. The Double Burger, two quarter pound pure beef burgers on a Texas steak roll fixed up with the works, and Aunt Holly's famous crab cake sand- wich, which can be pan fried, deep fried or broiled, are just two popular choices. Another best bet is Aunt Holly's turkey breast sandwich, made from fresh whole turkey breast which is roasted daily and piled high on your choice of bread. Shrimp, chicken salad and tuna salad sandwiches are also high on the list of lunchtime selections, along with Aunt Holly's Chef Salad (priced at $6.75, its the best-selling salad on the menu) and the grilled chicken or grilled tuna salad. For dinner, it's a seafood smorgasbord of entrres that is Aunt Holly's specialty. The Shore Special heads the list of choices, and consists of three pieces of fried chicken and a crab cake. Diners can also enjoy a 10 ounce top sirloin strip steak grilled to order with five jumbo sized fried shrimp. All dinners include two vegetables, bread and your choice of a cup of Aunt Holly's homemade soup or a tossed salad. The restaurant also offers a daily selection of fresh desserts.
