AMTRAK EXPLORE AMERICA FARE Lewes Lions Club celebrates 50 years of service Members of Lewes Lions Club gathered at Sussex Pines Country Club on Saturday, Sept. 21 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the service club. Lewes Lions Club began meeting under its new charter in 1946 and has been meeting ever since to serve a variety of needs in the com- munity. One of the major fundraisers for Lewes Lions Club is the beach concession stand it operates each summer at the public beach in Lewes. George Bryan, who was president of the Lions in the 1957-58 year, started that concession for the Lions when he first began selling and renting items from the tail gate of his pick-up truck. The stand grew from those modest be- ginnings and its yearly profits allow the Lions to contribute to many worthwhile community projects. George Bryan, now 98, is shown seated in the photograph below flanked by Jack Luzzi, chairman of the 50th Anniversary Celebration (1) and Larry McLaughlin, current pres- ident of the Lions.
