Handmade crafts a feature at Rehoboth ChJ.'istmas Shop Sparks of creativity fly when the "Sew-Sew's" get together at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach. These women, All Saints' parish members as well as some from the community, work practi- cally all year on holiday crafts for the Rehoboth Christmas Shop to be held this year from Oct. 11-13 in Rehoboth's Convention Hail. "This year, we have a lot of in- teresting items," said Ella Curtis, chairman of St. Ann's Chapter, the church group of All Saints' Episcopal Parish that sponsors the work. Among the crafts: Winnie the Pooh bears, Teacher's Pets learning books made of brightly colored cloth pages of puzzles for small children, aprons and tea co- zies, Calico Cat doorstops, hand- painted paper Christmas orna- ments, as well as porcelain and earthenware ornaments. "We even have angel ornaments made from macaroni," said Curtis. Also, there are hand-pinted toast tongs, "Yo-Yo" clowns, Christ- mas tree skirts and afghans. The items range from $2-$50. Among the members of the Sew-Sew's group are several well-known artists, including Amie Sloan of Harbeson, a potter, and Ruth Morris of Milton, a quil- ter. Both have won awards for their work. "Our group is open to ideas and more members," said Curtis. The Rehoboth Christmas Shop, in its 34th year, benefits local and area charities. Hours for this year's show are: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11- 12; and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13. Admission is $1. Featured at this year" s Rehoboth Christmas Shop will be clothing, handbags, linens, children's toys and books, gourmet food items, costume jewelry, Christmas deco- rations and stocking stuffers - gifts of all kinds. There will be 16 dealers at the event. In addition to the Sew-Sew's crafts will be the Potpourri booth of previously- owned bric-a-brac and other per- sonal and home furnishings. The bake table features an array of homemade goodies to take home. All of these booths are run by the women of All Saints' Parish: both All Saints' Church in Rehoboth, and St. George's Chapel in Ango- la. Also, a light lunch will be served in the Christmas Care from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Shoppers will be able to take chances on two raf- fle items, a dollhouse and a home- made jewelry box.
