40 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, October 2 - October 8, 1998 S afeguarding children&apos;s health course set for Oct. 6 Parents, teachers and day-care providers can increase caregiving and safety skills with courses in pediatric CPR, first aid, basic life support and infant massage at Delaware Technical & Communi- ty College, Owens campus. • Pediatric First Aid covers managing pediatric emergencies, including convulsions, bums, poi- soning, drowning, fractures, sprains, bleeding and insect bites. Special emphasis is given to res- cue breathing/choking. The course is approved by the Office of Child Care Licensing for a three-year coarse completion. Two-session courses meet from 6 to 9 p.m., Oct. 6 and Oct. 8, Oct. 12 and Oct. 14, and Nov. 9 and Nov. 11. The cost is $30. • Pediatric BLS and BLS Plus leaches caregivers basic life sup- port skills, including infant/child CPR and choking relief. Safe en- vironment and prevention will be stressed.
