32 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, October 9 - October 15, 1998 Houses of Worship Church Notes Lewes Presbyterian Church sets rummage sale The Lewes Presbyterian Church on Kings Highway in Lewes will hold a rummage sale Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 21 to 23. Hours will be from noon to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 21, while hours on Thurs- day and Friday, Oct. 22 and 23 are noon to 5 p.m. Friday is bag day, with all that can fit in a bag for $1. Lewes Presbyterian to host &apos;Messiah' Oct. 25 Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway in Lewes will fea- ture a guest speaker during their worship service Sunday, OcL 25. The sermon, "Messiah in the Fest of Tabernacles," will be given by guest speaker Dennis Karp, {vho was raised in a conservative Jewish home and now works as a missionary for Chosen People Ministries, a ministry of Bible teaching and discipleship. Worship times are at 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday school will be centered around the sermon topic and will begin at 9:45 a.m. There will be fellowship and refreshments follow ing both services, with a nursery provided throughout the morning. Every- one is invited to attend. Coolspring Presbyterian sets homecoming The Coolspring Presbyterian Church celebrates its founding each year with a homecoming service; 1998 marks 272 years since the church was founded in 1726. The service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 18, with the Rev. James Mays returning as guest preacher. Mays was pastor of the church from 1971 to 1977, recently retiring as Presbytery executive of Lackawanna Presbytery in Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Bettie Joe, then returned home to Tennessee. Everyone is invited to help Coolspring celebrate its anniversary, and refreshments will be served following the service. Regular worship services are held each Sunday at 11:45 a.m., from September to June. The congregation changes the time to 8:30 a.m. for the summer months. Genesis Sets children's breakfast/bible School Genesis will begin a children's Saturday Morning Breakfast & Bible School, Saturday, Oct. 24. A light breakfast of cereal, juice and milk will be served at 9:30 a.m., with the session ending at 11:30 a.m. The school will continue through Dec. 19, and the program will include bib- lical teaching, singing, games, crafts and worship. Children between ages 6-12 are invited to attend, regardless of de- nomination and there is no charge. All children must be registered be- fore Saturday, Oct. 17 by calling 945-4020 between 10 a.m. and noon, weekdays. One may also leave the name and phone number on the an- swering machine and a staff person will call back to obtain the registra- tion information. Genesis is located on Long Neck Road in the Seafar- ers Center across from the Crab Barn. It is a mission church of All Saints' Parish and the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware. UUSD prepares for full time minister Oct. 11 The Unitarian Universalists of Southern Delaware are about to get their first full time minister and "getting ready" for that event will be the subject of their Sunday, Oct. 11, worship. The Rev. Paul Hull will be- gin his tenure as interim minister to the group Sunday, Oct. 18. On Oct. 1 I, guest minister the Rev. Alma Nieves will help prepare them as she presents her sermon "Preparing for New Beginnings." UUSD meets every Sunday at 10:30 a.m., at Lewes Middle School, Savannah Road: everyone is welcome. On Oct. 24, there will be a minibazaar with crafts, white elephants and refreshments to benefit the Volunteers in Mission team that went to Zambia this summer. On Sunday at 5:30 p.m., there will be a covered-dish supper sponsored by the Methodist "Women, followed by a slide presentation by the Mission Team. Every- one is welcome; bring a covered dish or dessert for six people. Dagsboro Church of God to hold revival The Dagsboro Church of God will hold a revival Sunday, Oct. 18, to Wednesday, Oct. 21.
