Class of '47 to hold reunion The Delaware State High School Class of 1947 will hold its Fiftieth Anniversary Reunion on Friday, Oct. 24, at the Blue Coat Inn, 800 N. State Street, Dover, beginning with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. Approximately 25 of the origi- nal 53 members of the class are expected to attend. Statewide arts summit scheduled for Oct. 2 5 Friday, Oct. 17, is the last day to register for the Delaware Division of the Arts second Biennial Statewide Arts Summit, titled, "Building Bridges; Making Con- nections." The summit will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the John M. Clayton Hall, located on the Laird campus of the University of Delaware, Newark. Activities will include work- shops, panels, and nationally rec- ognized arts experts. The summit will begin with a keynote address by Liz Lerman, founder and artistic director of the Liz Lerman Dance Exchange in Takoma Park, Md. Other highlights include an ad- dress by Gov. Thomas Carper, and a session with Providence, R.I., mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci, who will discuss the influ- ential role that artists and arts or- ganizations played in the success- ful revitalization of downtown Providence. Ancient Greek theatre topic of Oct. 14 talk University of Delaware history professor Steven E. Sidebotham will speak on "Ancient Greek Theatre" at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14. His talk, part of the 30th an- niversary celebration of the Uni- versity of Delaware's Parallel Program, will take place in the William Carter Partnership Center (formerly known as the Higher Education Building) on Route 18 in Georgetown. Sidebotham's free talk, which is open to the public, will address the major playwrights, both tragic and comic, of the 5th century B.C. He will discuss Greek outdoor theatre and the policy of using male actors in all roles. The talk will be illustrated with slides.
