The ceremony was held in corl- junction with the Philadelphia Market of American Craft, a trade show where artists exhibit their original designs in production and limited-edition work to craft re- tailers from across the country. More than 15,000 professional craft artists from throughout the country were polled by "NICHE" magazine, the exclusive national trade publication [or craft retailers and sponsor of the awards pro- gram. Criteria for selection in- cluded treating artists with cour- tesy and respect, paying on time, promoting and marketing Ameri- can crafts, giving back time and energy to the craft community and mentoring emerging artists. In making the announcement, Wendy Rosen, publisher of "NICHE" magazine, stated, "These awards represent the indi- vidual voices of thousands of Gavin Braithwaite, co-owner of the Stepping Stone in Lewes, receives a nomination certificate from Wendy Rosen, publisher of NICHE magazine. artists who wish to support your hard work and commitment to their lives and well-being."
