Cape Gazette ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15 - MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2010 jJ 87 Philip Morton Gallery in .Rehoboth to host Dane Tilghman exhlblt Oct. 15-28 lust in time for the annual Re- hoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festi val, Dane Tilghlnan returns for his sixth show at the Philip Mor- ton Gallery Friday, Oct. 15, for a two-week run featuring hi Sports, Americana and Jazz & Blues series. A free, public meet the-artist reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 15, at the gallery. The exhibit rims through Thursday, Oct. 28. With more than 25 new works displayed in the gallery, Tilgh man brings a very exciting mix i n style and subject matter to Re+ hoboth. He has taken his artwor k toward new dimensions, going from realism to a stylish combi nation all his own of surrealism and primitive elongation. Since 1979, he has exhibited his works throughout the United States at art festivals, galleries, trade shows and convention S where he has received nurnerou$ awards, including the Medal of Honor in Graphics from the American Artists Professional League. In 1999, a baseball image was accepted at the Cooperb stown Baseball Hall of Fame Mu" seum. He has completed a base! ball mural for Turner Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., as well as for Citi r zens Bank Park in Philadelphi a for the Phillies in 2004. Tilghman also had a display of Negro League prints at the former Vet- erans Stadium in Philadelphia, Pa., in 2000. He also completed an 8-by-80-foot mural for West Chester Community Center, West Chester, Pa., in 2000. He created more than 21 images for the Chester County Historical Society exhibition "Up From Slavery." His work has appeared in Sports Illustrated, on ESPN's website, in Scholastic Books pub- lished by McGraw-Hill and in the Western Journal of Black Studies Continued on page 88 A Taste of Britain...
