90 FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15 - MONDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2010 ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT Cape Gazette Pamella Bounds-Seemans to exhibit new work Oct. 17-Nov. 20 in Lewes The Buttery Restaurant is hosting an opening with refresh- ments for local artist Pamella Bounds-Seemans from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17. Her new paintings will be displayed in the Lewes restaurant until Saturday, Nov. 20.. Bounds-Seemans, born and raised in Milton, is known for her acrylic paintings surrounded by a collage border and hand- painted frame. Her latest series will feature local scenes, includ- ing the Lightship Overfallsl Zwaanendael Museum, Cape May-Lewes Ferry and the har- bor, in her one-of-a-kind, whim- sical style. "When I was a young artist, I lived on Pilottown Road in Lewes and used to paint local businesses and scenes:' she said. "I am looking forward to the op- portunity to show more of my artwork in Lewes several years later at one of the best restau- rants at the beach. My paintings highlight the charm of Lewes, but with my own spin." Bounds-Seemans received an MFA in painting from Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M. She is a Delaware Division of the Arts fellowship recipient and won Best Artist from Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexan- dria, Va. Her works are owned and displayed around the world, including at the Tideline Gallery in Rehoboth Beach. The Buttery is a Leweslandmark known for its inspired food and elegant at- mosphere. It is open seven days per week for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Located at 102 2nd St., it can be reached by call- ing 645-7755. Film society, CAMP Rehoboth to present film series Rehoboth Beach Film Society and CAMP Rehoboth will pres- ent two films Saturday, Oct. 23, _f:th r the quarterly film series An- er Take. The event kicks off at 3 p.m., with a special 40th anniversary screening of "The Boys in the Band." This film originated as a groundbreaking play' by Mart Crowley that earned historical significance by being the first successful work to unabashedly depict the lives of gay men. Over a year before the Stonewall Re- bellion, it premiered off-Broad- way in 1968, where it had a sur- prising popular run of just over 1,000 performances. Two years later, Crowley adapted his screenplay for a film, directed by William Friedkin, who went on to direct "The French Connec- tion" and "The Exorcist." The film was rare in that it featured the entire original stage cast from the play. The story is set in an apart- ment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, where six of Harold's closest friends are throwing him a birthday party.
