Hit a high note with the Potpourri during this year's jazz festival A landmark establishment in Rehoboth Beach, the Potpourri Restaurant and Lounge upholds its tra- dition of fresh, innovative cuisine by providing great features, discount prices and hot jazz entertainment. Get jazzed up at the Potpourri this weekend dur- ing Autumn Jazz '97 by taking in some of the region's best entertainment and cuisine. The restaurant's already-diverse menu is comple- mented by a host of jazz festival specials in honor of the annual event. New specialty items that will be highlighted include fresh seafood selections such as Rockfish Denise, oven-baked with shrirnp, crab and scallops and topped with a creamy lobster sauce and pro- volone cheese. Veal Rib Chop Chassseur, a 12- ounce veal rib, which is pan-roasted, medium rare, and served Hunter style, will also be featured. As an appetizer, jazz-goers will want to take note of Oysters Rockefeller, Chesapeake Bay oysters baked withspinach, bacon and garlic and topped with fontina swiss cheese or a wild mushroom ragout (shittake, portabella and crimini mushrooms sauteed in butter with garlic, pepper and dry sherry). The Potpourri also spotlights entertainment on a regular basis. The Jeff Irwin Trio performs from 8 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday nights, while Friday night's Jazz Supper features Nick Wayne on piano. A full slate of stellar performers is featured for Autumn Jazz '97, too. Begin your jazz festival experience on Thursday, Oct. 16, with a jazz supper with the Jeff Irwin Trio from 9 p.m. to midnight. On Friday, Oct. 17, Potpourri will feature Happy Hour with Pat Tobin from 4 to 8 p.m. and the Scott Hen- richsen Quarter from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. On Saturday, Oct. 18, Tobin returns for Happy Hour from 4 to 8 p.m., and David Zipse with Tony Granberry and Friends will entertain from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The famous Jazz Jam Finale will take place from 7 to 11 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, and will be hosted by the Jeff Irwin Quartet. If you can't make it in for the jazz festival, never fear. The Potpourri is open year-round and features a myriad of chef's features to accompany its regular menu. Early Bird specials are currently offered from 5 to 6:45 p.m., and start at $9.50. Weeknight specials, featured Sunday through Thursday, are priced at only $10.95. Selections include rack of lamb (Sun- days), filet of beef (MondayS), surf and turf (Tues- days), stuffed shrimp (Wednesdays) and crab cakes (Thursdays).
