Sharpen your eyeteeth as Sea Witch Festival returns C ct. 25-26 There's not a ghost of a chance that everyone who attends the "Fang"tastic Eighth Annual Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddler's Festival won't find something to their liking. The Oct. 25 and 26 festival fea- tures many activities and events to see and do, starting with the cos- tume parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, followed by the Nur Temple and Boumi Temple Parade featuring more than 700 participants who will march down Rehoboth Av- enue from State Street to the Boardwalk. The parade will include bands, decorated cars and costumed groups; fun prizes will be given for the judges' favorites. Then take in the Banjo Duster and Fid- dlir's Convention, scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand, with fiddlers and pickers provid- ing a full day of foot-stompin' en- tertainment. There's prize money available for the best players. The weekend also includes the annual broom tossing contest, which offers prizes to those who can heave their numbered broom the greatest distance. This contest is sponsored by Sun Sational Cleaning and the winner will be given a gold dustpan properly marked "Swept Up at Sea Witch." There will be separate categories for different age groups. The con- test begins at 3 p.m. on the beach at Rehoboth Avenue. There's plenty of opportunity for craft lovers to browse and shop at craft shows held at three locations on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, craft shows will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rehoboth Bandstand, the Rehoboth Fire Station and the Re- hoboth Outlets 3. On Sunday, the craft shows will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Big Dog Sportswear is the spon- sor of the annual best-dressed pet contest, which in past years has featured costumed hamsters, goats and turtles as well as dogs and cats. Every entrant will be awarded a ribbon proclaiming them a "Big Dog" at Sea Witch, and prizes with a total value of more than $1,000 for the winning pets. The contest begins at 1 p.m. on Sun- day at the Bandstand. For those with both hunting ability and stamina the Sea Witch Hunt offers a chance to use both skills. To enter, register between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand (if it rains, registration will be held at the Fire Department on Rehoboth Avenue). Pick up a clue site loca- tion from the official clue-keeper and then see if you can locate that slippery hag. Last year, she was discovered in Heaven in a Hand Basket.
