Zando, known more for her award-winning landscape archi- tecture and unique building vibrant color schemes and impres- sionistic and psychological edges make them a fine complement to the bold and flavorful Spanish cuisine offered by Espuma chef and owner Kevin Reading. "Vibrant dynamic forms and colors peek through subdued skins and suggest layers of life and energy," says Zando in an artist's statement• "I often use symbols such as dice or wish- bones to convey a sense of chance or serendipity and even whimsey and movement•" Many of Zando's works also in- clude small ladders inviting the viewers to climb with her into un- explored inner dimensions• O'Toole's work is refreshing in its departure from the more cus- tomary realm of landscape fa- vored by so many local artists• Many of the paintings being shown at Espuma include human figures, although they are no one in particular• His work is domi- nated by yellows and oranges and tones that blend well with human coloring• He tells us: "My work starts with a fascination with the forms and figures of the world around me. but I stress 'starts•' Almost paper, t O'Toole's figures exist in a world of bright sunshine and the carefully prepared drinks poured with great respect by bar- tender Jimmy Parks.
