CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, November 6 - November 12, 1998 - 75 Second Street Players to stage varie00 y in 1999 With the final show of the sea- son, "Charlotte's Web," now in rehearsal, Second Street Players have chosen the 1999 season d season tickets arc O ow0n sale .... -B0d members recently voted to produce five plays for the regu- lar season in addition to the annu- al fundraiser gala and children's productions. The shows are "A Funny Thing Happened oh the Way to the Fo- rum," "Twelve Angry Jurors,"' "The Importance of Being Ernest," "Moon Over Buffalo" and "It's a Wonderful Life." The players will open and close their season with musicals. Harvey Williams, board vice- president and member of the play reading committee, said that the selections will provide entertain- ment and thought-provoking the- atre for a wide cross section of the theatre-going audience of south- ern Delaware. He said a few ol' the shows have been performed in the area, but most have not been seen locally in several years. "We have quite a bit of comedy in here. The raucous and rowdy play had a successful run on Broadway and a road company recently brought the show to the Playhouse when they prf0rm the musical version of"It's a Wonderful Life." . - All the familiar characters that movie audiences, have loved for generations are here, this time ac- companied by songs that add to the warmth and sentimentality of the Christmas favorite. ' The musical is to be performed Nov. 26, 27, 28 and Dec. 3, 4 and 5. Season tickets are $47 for all five productions and may be or- dered by calling 422-0220. Debbie Tappan, the players' managing director, said that giv- ing season tickets as a holiday gift is becoming a popular idea. She said those who receive tickets can make their own arrangements for show dates for the individual shows. Second Street Players are now accepting applications for direc- tors for all shows for the 1999 sea- son. Antz: A computer-generated, animated insect film featuring the voices of Woody Allen and Sharon Stone. Studio moguls at DreamWorks hope the movie will warm the hearts of entomologists everywhere.
