Let's all raise a glass to excellence in public ser- vice, now as well as next spring at Milton's Bacchus Wine Bar. Way to go and thank you, Sulkovskys for choosing downtown Milton! Jeff Dailey Milton People stealing Milton Garden Club flowers It has just come to my attention that although the Milton Garden Club has once again beautified the town with an assortment of mums, pansies and cabbages, someone has decided to steal our flowers. This is not the first time this has happened. The Garden Club works very hard with fund raisers and plantings. Please notify the Milton Garden Club if you notice any suspicious behavior in or around the gardens. The family of Dave temmon Futcher family expresses its sincere gratitude The Futcher Family expresses tremendous gratitude for gener- ous community planning and contributions to produce and pay a lasting memorial tribute to our grandfather, Charles Wilson Futcher Sr., who died in the line of duty in 1939 as a City of Lewes town officer and Sussex County constable. His death as a fallen police of- ricer is no less today than 75 years ago. The opportunity to work with community leaders, the City of Lewes and Delaware State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police has been a gift and a rewarding journey. The memorial plaque to recognize Futcher was inspired by the inaugural dedication of the Delaware Law Memorial and National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund. The culmination of two years of planning, organiz- ing and ultimately dedicating the memorial this year, resulted in a moving and emotional ceremony in Zwannaendael Park. We were honored with so many guests and a loving embrace by the com- munity. Our father Charles and aunt Helen were just teenagers when Officer Futcher died suddenly from an injury in a high-speed chase in Lewes. My grandmother Frances faced a traumatic loss, but persevered for many years when she lost her Charles. My family is remembered for their pain and suffering. We, the Futcher Family grate- fully acknowledge these com- munity leaders and businesses for their generosity: Sgt. Sherrie Har- mon, Lewes Police Department; Lt. Frederick Calhoun, Delaware State Lodge president; Hazel Brittingham; Mayor Ted Becker, council member Dennis Reardon; Carol Richardson, projects direc- tor; Lewes Parks & Recreation and Lewes Public Works, Chief of Police Jeffrey Horvath, Sen.
