76 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, Nov. 8 - Nov. 14, 2002 Griswold Special Care offers home service in Lewes Company helps older adults stay at home Griswold Special Care Inc., a national home-care company, has opened a satellite office in Lewes to serve Sussex County. For 15 years in New Castle County, Gris- wold Special Care has referred caregivers who assist with person- al care, homemaking and compan- ionship to enable older adults to stay safely in their homes. All caregivers are screened by the company prior to placement. Griswold will offer hourly, overnight or live-in service op- tions. Griswold Special Care works exclusively with nonmedical care- givers who help older adults, dis- abled people, recently discharged hospital patients and others who need help to remain independent at home. The caregivers assist families with everyday tasks like personal care, cooking, shopping and light housekeeping. Mary Anne Murray, director of the Delaware office of Griswold Special Care, will lead the south- ern Delaware effort. She has managed the Wilmington office and has increased the company's caseload from 40 families to more than 120 in three years. "As the population of older adults ex- plodes, the need for nonmedical home care is tremendous. We are offering an alternative to nursing homes, helping people stay safe and independent in the comfort of their homes," she said. "For several years, I worked with the founder, Jean Griswold," Murray said. "Her philosophy is to help as many people as possible by charging reasonable rates and carefully screening caregivers who provide flexible hours for our more than 70 offices in 10 states have been developed. I love the mission; we have wonderful clients who we match with com- passionate, skilled caregivers. Using Jean's formula, we are suc- cessfully helping older Delaware- f ,ai,lies. ans throughout the state," she said.
