82 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, Nov. 8 - Nov. 14, 2002 Asgard Press 2003 Delaware calendars feature state's treasures Wilmington-based Asgard Press has released its Delaware calen- dars for 2003, featuring the art- work of Edward L. Loper Sr. and the photography of Tom Payne. The Delaware 2003 and the Art of Seeing-Edward L. Loper Sr. 2003 calendars are available in bookstores, gift shops, and Happy Harry's locations throughout the state. Both dries were established in 2000 and have grown steadily in popularity as high-quality gift items that showcase the beauty and charm of Delaware. "Our reproduction quality and printing standards far surpass that of most calendars on the market," said publisher Peter Shin. "The calendars are printed on acid-free art stock that conforms to the Li- brary of Congress standards for archival quality, and each image is suitable for framing. We've com- bined dramatic visual images with high production values to produce something all Delawareans can be proud of." The Delaware 2003 calendar features Tom Payne photographs from across the state, including white tail deer in north Delaware, the Dickinson Plantation and Old Pier, Bowers Beach in Kent Coun- ty, the Blue Rocks, St. Anthony's Italian Festival and the Kalmar Nyckel in Wilmington, Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, Pa., a kayaker and the Word War II Ft. Miles towers in Cape Henlopen and more. The Loper 2003 calendar fea- tures a selection of works by Ed- ward Loper, a nationally known Wilmington artist whose work fo- cuses on the art of seeing and the dramatic use of rich, jewellike colors. It features scenes of Wilmington, Quebec City, New Orleans and Maine. Both calendars retail for $14.95, and are in stores now. In addition, Asgard is offering its Greetings from Delaware note- card set this holiday season, which features Payne's photo- graph's of Delaware winter scenes. The boxed set of 18 blank notecards and envelopes also re- tails for $14.95. Images include holiday doors of New Castle, Woodale Covered Bridge, Fen- wick Island Lighthouse, Rockford Tower, Wilmington, and Ice and Wildberries at Hoopes Reservoir. Asgard also recently published the Vintage Delaware postcard book and note set, featuring his- toric photographs of Delaware scenes from 1922 to 1959.
