T Jim Cmsson photo Hampton Inn helps Make a Difference at Harbor Healthcare Harbor Healthcare of Lewes and Hampton Inn of Rehoboth Beach/Lewes participated in Make a Difference Day, Oct. 27. The two organizations chose to make their difference by rais- ing $500 for Meals of Wheels. In conjunction with Hampton Inn donations and collections to- ward that goal, Harbor Healthcare hosted a bake sale at its facility on Make a Difference Day. Shown in their joint effort are (l-r) Maryanne Henry of Hampton Inn, Patricia Wanthouse, Edith Fuchs, Isalyn Smith and Dorothy Esender of Harbor Health Care and Sarah Hanna of Hampton Inn. . - House On Oct. 2 I, a crowd gathered'at the Home & Garden Show at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, Tim- onium, Md., to watch as state comptroller William Donald Schaefer drew winning ticket number 226015 for the House with a Heart Foundation annual house raffle. Celeste Crowley of Columbia, Md., was the lucky winner of a new Gemcraft Homes, 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath house in Rehoboth Beach, valued at $205,000. Crowley purchased her ticket from a friend who was sell- ing tickets to raise funds for St. Vincent's Center, a residential home for children. This is the first year the raffled house has been located in Delaware, thanks to Bill Vernon of the Rehoboth Beach office of O'Conor, Piper & Flynn ERA, a real estate firm that has been a partner of House with a Heart Foundation since its inception 10 years ago. The following Delaware companies assisted House with a Heart Foundation in this venture: Gemcraft Homes, OPF, Delmarva Online, Rehoboth Outlets, Nicola Pizza, Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beacll Chamber of Commerce, WBOC-TV, Dan Gaffney of WGMD 92.7 FM, and Grand Rental Station. Proceeds from the raffle benefit House with a Heart Foundation's mission to heighten awareness of homeless issues and generate funds to provide grants to local shelters. This year, the foundation is funding grants to 23 organiza- tions, as well as providing $43,435 in additional funding to 39 otoanizations,,, throueh its 51)/51) raffle program. The speaker will be Donna Brown, pro- prietor of the Life Histories Center of Delaware, who will discuss how she works with clients to record and preserve their oral history.
