: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12 - MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2010 ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT Cape Gazette Boys & Girls Club to offer free art classes The Rehoboth Boys & Girls Club is offering free art classes by the Pegasus Artworks Pro- gram. This program is only avail- obfle to Boys & Girls Club mem- bers, so each participant will be asked to become a member of the Boys & Girls Club. This an- nual fee is $I5 at the Rehoboth site. These free art classes will be held every Tuesday. Students ages 5-9 will have an hour-long class from 4"30-5"30 p.m. and stu- dents ages 10-15 will have an hour-long class from 5:30-6:30 p.m. r' SUBMITTED PHOTO SHOWN LEARNING ART at the Rehoboth Boys & Girls Club are (back, I-r) Ro- maro Cobb, Stephanie Hartsoe and Ximena Torales. The main purpose of the Pega- sus Artworks is to expose youth and their community to profes- sional artists and to "show how art can be a powerful tool for them in everyday life. The pro- gram teaches individual confi- dence, understanding and growth. This program gives youth an opportunity to be a part of some- thing they might have never known about without this pro- gram. Pegasus artists have an average of seven years of exhibition ex- perience or the equivalent time with a bachelor's degree in art or other experience teaching art (or in a closely related field). Jennifer August, who will be offering instruction at the Re- hoboth Boys & Girls Club, has over 25 years of experience in the field of art therapy. She is currently a registered clinical art therapist/verbal ther- apist/crisis interventionist at The Art Therapy Way in Lewes, where she has practiced since 1992.
