50 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, Nov. 19 - Nov. 22, 2004 Grotto Pizza Parade of Trees kicks off with Nov. 22 party Grotto Pizza will present its 18th annual Parade of Trees this holiday season, continuing its tra- dition of supporting area charities. A kick-off party will be held Mon- day, Nov. 22. Grotto provides a seven-foot Scotch Pine tree and two strings of lights to each par- ticipating business that donates a $100 entry fee. Businesses then choose a charity to sponsor, and all proceeds from the tree, includ- ing the entry fee, aredonated to that charity. During the kick-off party, up to five people from each company decorate their tree at the selected location. Locations include Bethany, Grand Slam in Lewes, Grand Slam in Seaford, Long Neck or Rehoboth Avenue. Trees may be decorated in the compa- ny's theme of choice. Grotto customers are encour- aged to support this effort by put- ting cash donations into boxes in front of each tree. On the last day of the event, Jan. 1, all donations will be counted and forwarded to the designated charity. This year, the tree that collects the most do- nations in each stor will win an additional $250 for its charity, do- nated by Grotto Pizza. The chamber will match each decorated paper mitten with a real child's mitten to be used as a dec- oration on or near Santa's house on the Boardwalk. The paper mittens will be dis- prayed in storefronts in down- town Rehoboth Beach beginning at the tree lighting ceremony Fri- day, Nov. 26, until the new year.
