78 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, Nov. 19 - Nov. 22, 2004 Submitted photo CHEER Veterans Day dinner, dance a hit The Annual 2004 Veteran's Day Celebration, sponsored by Sussex County Senior Services, IncJCHEER, was held Thurs., Nox,. 11 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the CHEER Community Center in Georgetown. This year's theme, "Salute to Veterans" featured dinner, dancing and an open- ing ceremony complete with color guard and 21-gun salute. Veterans from. every branch of the military attended dressed in uniform for the flag ceremo- ny, unit presentation, candle lighting ceremony, POW/MIA remembrance and recognition of- the six branches of the service. Over 370 people attended the event, including veterans, spouses, guests and CHEER staff. Entertainment, provided by deejay Sky Brady, included patriotic music ranging from "America the Beautiful" to 1940's era swing hits. The evening gave tribute to the nation's vet- erans in a long-standing CHEER tradition that will continue for many years to follow. Veterans Cemetery 'committee to meet Nov. 30 The Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, Family Advisory Cemetery Committee, Sussex County, will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. For special accommodations, call the week prior at 800-344-9900. Sussex County GOP participating in Toys for Tots The Sussex County Republican Committee is participating in the Ma- rine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program again this year. Anyone wishing to participate is asked to stop by headquarters, 131 East Market Street in Georgetown and donate a toy for a needy child. The Commit- tee will hold its annual Christmas Party at the Marvel Museum in Georgetown on Monday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m., following Caroling on the Circle. The toys collected will be presented that evening to local leaders of the program. Volunteers at headquarters are continuing to register Sussex County Republicans to vote. Anyone who is a new voter, a newcomer to the area, or is choosing to change their party affiliation can do so at Repub- lican headquarters. The next monthly regional meeting of the committee will be held at Del Tech in the Higher Education Building at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 10. Do you feel that you are stuck at the light?
