Cape Gazette NEWS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30- MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2012 29 Obituaries )) Carol A. Virnelli, Goshen member Carol A. Virnelli, 75, a native Delawarean, died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Hug- gins Hospital in Wolfeboro, N.H. Born in Wilmington, March 31, 1937, she lived in several states and countries before again set- fling in her home state. In 2009 she relocated to New Hampshire to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Carol enjoyed a long career providing excellent customer service in the hospitality indus- try, working until age 71. She was also self-employed until her death as a tax preparer, priding herself in providing affordable service to her many individual and corporate clients. She was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church in Mil- ton and previously Salem United Methodist Church in Newark, both of which provided a spiritu- al anchor for her. She was active in the choir, Sunday school and other children's ministries, the pastor-parish council and other functions. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, H. Wayne and Mary Abbott; her husband Thomas Virnelli; and siblings Roy and James Abbott and Eve- lyn Doughten. She is survived by a son, Charles Madden and his wife Dolores of Florida; and a daughter, Kimberly Hutto and her husband Rex of New Hamp- shire; grandchildren Joshua Madden of Oklahoma and Jonathan and Charles Madden of Florida, Aaron Hutto and Ben- jamin Hutto of New Hampshire, Christina Hutto of Ohio and Kenneth Hutto of Maine; numer- ous great-grandchildren; sisters Laura Abbott and Lois Di- Teodoro of Delaware and Jane Lines of New Jersey; and numer- ous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 2, at Goshen United Methodist Church, 103 Mulberry St., Milton, conducted by the Revs. Dianne Henry and Rex Hutto. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lord Funeral Home, PO Box 490, Center Os- sipee, NH 03814, to offset ex- penses. Please note "Carol Vir- nelli" on the memo line. Madeline $. Handy, H&H Poultry retiree Madeline Showell Handy was born Oct. 22,1932, in Bishopville, Md., to the late Harry and Mary Laws ShoweU. She departed this life Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md., sur- rounded by her loving family. She attended schools in Sussex County and Worcester County, Md. On Feb. 19, 1950, Madeline was united in holy matrimo- ny to Edward P. Handy. She worked at H&H Poultry in Se!byville, and Get Smart Inc. in Ocean City, Md. You Madeline Handy could always fred her sitting at the kitchen table doing her "Penny Press" word search puz- zles or standing at the door watching her great-grands ride their scooters. Madeline leaves to mourn her husband of 62 years, Edward P. Handy of Selbyville; three daughters, Gloria (Paul) Pugh of Westover, Md., Mary Ellen Handy of Bishopville and An- nette Handy of Selbyville; a step- son Bill (Terry) Smith and a step- daughter Diane Pumell, both of Berlin, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; a special nephew Clifton Showell Jr. of Felton; a special cousin Gordon (Mamie) Pumell of Philadelphia, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daugh- ter Peggy Showell; grandson Calvin Handy; and her brothers Wallace Showell and Clifton Showell Sr. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Zoar United Methodist Church in Sel- byville, where family and friends may call two hours prior to the service.
