: Ca~.~ G~tte ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT FR~D,~'x", NOVEMBER 30 - MONDAY, OECEMBEE 3, 2012 73 THE CHAMBER BALLOON BRIGADE rade crowds, SUBMITTED PHOTO hands out bunches of holiday fun to pa- Christmas in Candyland on parade Dec. 6 in Georgetown Following a holiday tradition, the Georgetown Christmas Bal- loon Parade is coming to town at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6. Christmas in Candyland is this year's parade theme, and all the marching bands, floats, antique vehicles, fire trucks and other entries are encouraged to create a decorating scheme to reflect the sweetness of the season. Balloons continue to play a starring role in the Georgetown Christmas Parade, and this year it's quality vs. quantity, and big- ger is better, says Chamber Exec- fitive Director Karen Duffield. "For the past few years, we have tried to hand out a helium bal- loon to everyone who came to the Georgetown parade, but even with 3,500 balloons being distributed last year, we hardly made a dent in the crowds. So, this year, we hope that at least every child will receive a bigger balloon, and parents and adults will enjoy and admire the candy- inspired balloons that will be featured as decorations." To par- ticipate in the Georgetown Pa- rade, visit www.georgetown- coc.com and submit an entry form online or call the George- town chamber at 302-856-1544 for more information. This year's Georgetown Christmas Balloon Parade is sponsored by Del-One and Ful- ton Bank, and supported by oth- er generous sponsors including the Georgetown-Millsboro Ro- tary; Delmarva Power; ServPro of Sussex County; Tyndall's Construction; The Insurance Market; Wilmington University; Sussex Eye Center; County Bank, NRG Energy; Sombar & Co.; Jefferson, Uriah, Doane & Sterner; Bob W'flley & Son; NRG Energy; and County Bank. With a theme like Christmas in Can- dy_land, Duffield says there's no doubt that the Georgetown Bal- loon Parade will be a sweet ex- perience for all who participate.
