54 - CAPE GAZETYE, Friday, December 11 - December 17, 1998 First Pelican Square store to open March I at Midway By Michael Short Three anchor stores have com- mitted to the Pelican Square Shopping Center, which is expect- ed to open its first store on Marchl. Gary Talles of Talles-Robbins Development Company in Balti- more, said that the Route 1 shop- ping center located between Re- hoboth Outlets and Postal Lane will offer a variety of shops. "It is unique because it will ser- vice people year-round," accord- ing to Talles. "We want to provide all services in one parcel." Talles said the three anchor stores are Super Fresh, Marshalls and Staples. Talles hopes all three will be open by April 1 and the rest of the shopping center will be open by the end of May. Staples provides everything from mouse pads to computer keyboards and paper clips, offer- ing a complete office supply store. The new Staples will be 24,000 square feet in size. MarshaUs is a clothing store for both women and men. Talles de- scribes it as an upscale T.J. Maxx. Super Fresh will be opening a 53,000 square foot store which will be a "state of the art" store, he said. Talles hopes it will open by the first of April. The store will provide a full range of food items, including freshly prepared foods. It will also include a pharmacy. "We want a mix so they can do all their shopping they need to in one place," Tailes said. Access will be primarily from Postal Lane with a smaller access from Route 1. There will also be a connecting road to the property next door, the Rehoboth Outlets. There will be 140,000 square feet of retail space with most of that devoted to the three anchor stores. Talles said that the shop- ping center will also include sev- eral smaller businesses, which may include pad sites for a bank be a dry cleaners, a hair salon, out- and restaurant. There could also door store and marine store.
