Next Gen South grants funds to organizations combatting addiction The Next Generation of South- ern Delaware, a giving circle of the Delaware Community Foun- dation, had its Annual Grants Ceremony at Arena’s in Milford Nov. 9. Funds raised from Next Gen South’s Annual Chowdown for Charity, held last February in Dover, were awarded to three organizations at the ceremony: Elizabeth W. Murphy School, ForgeYouthandFamilyAcademy and Summer Learning Collabora- tive. The NGS Grants Committee was able to dedicate funds to organizations that combat the addiction crisis not only in the area of active addiction, but also in prevention and re-entry, which are equally important. “The funds that we have re- ceived from Next Gen will allow us to add some very specific ad- dictions counseling to help those families, in order to try to reunify the children with their biologi- cal families, which is huge.” said Michael Kopp, executive director of Elizabeth W. Murphy School. Those in attendance heard emotional and inspiring stories from all three grant recipients that evening. Next Gen South is looking forward to seeing just how these funds are able to change lives and continue the fight against addiction in local communities. Follow Next Gen South’s Face- book page TNGSoDel for the upcoming Annual Chowdown for Charity to be held at Maple Dale Country Club in Dover Fri- day, Feb. 24, 2018.  Next Gen South is a phil- anthropic organization that was created and is directed by young professionals living and working in Kent and Sus- sex counties.
