Sussex Dance Academy, under
the direction of Kate Downes
Walker, will take the stage with
its annual presentation of the
holiday ballet classic, "The Nut-
cracker," at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15,
and at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16,
at Cape Henlopen High School
in Lewes. A final show will be
presented at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec.
17, at the Ocean City Performing
Arts Center in Ocean City, Md.
Inadditiontothepublicperfor-
mances, a community outreach
performance was to be presented
to over 700 elementary school
children in the Cape Henlopen
School District Dec. 14. Dancers
from throughout Sussex County
have been rehearsing since Sep-
tember in order to prepare for
the upcoming performances.
The academy's youth ballet
company, Sussex Ballet, will
perform the production for its
14th year, with 70 students per-
forming various roles. Former
student and graduate Kole Loftin
will make an appearance as the
Cavalier.
