52 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, Dec. 19 - Dec. 25, 2003 Another Bad Hair Day? to open in The Village at Five Points By Bridin Reynolds Hughes The rumors are true. There is going to be Another Bad Hair Day? Salon in the Cape Region. But owner Drexel Davidson does- n't take short cuts so clients will have to wait out the winter while he puts his finishing touches on the deluxe salon and spa which is still under construction in The Village at Five Points in Lewes. Ever the tease, Davidson actu- ally admits it will take until Memorial Day weekend 2004 for the salon to open its doors. How- ever, if the vision and plans are any indication, it will be well worth the wait. "We are able to design this from the ground up, giving us more control over the floor plan and or- ganization," said Davidson, who currently owns and operates the decadent Bad Hair Day? salon on Lake Avenue in Rehoboth Beach. The Rehoboth salonwill remain open in conjunction with the new venture. Another Bad Hair Day? is the result of growth experienced by the original salon specifically and the resort region in general. "When we opened 10 years ago, the population and traffic were quite different. "Now Route One is like a barri- er between us and our clients that come from Lewes, Georgetown, Milford and Dover," said David- son. "The salon is ready to grow and I feel we owe it to our loyal clients to have another fantastic location, more convenient to them. In some ways it is about parking, parking, parking," he said. The salon will feature 16 styl- ists, as well as massage therapists and estheticians; like the Re- hoboth salon, Aveda products will be featured. The extensive space will also allow BHD? to include an authentic steam room and per- sonal lockers for clients. Davidson is very enthused about his neighbors, Quest Fitness and Fish On, an outbranch of Redfin seafood restaurant, which will be adjoined to the salon by a glass atrium in The Village at Five Points. "Those who want to move and challenge their body at Quest Fit- ness can follow it up by a steam and massage or beauty treatments at the salon and nourish them- selves at the restaurant. Ultimate- ly, we will all work very well to- gether," said Davidson. Davidson also intends to en- hance the salon experience with a novel addition to Another Bad Hair Day? "It is going to be called BHD?- The Butler. It is a retail experi- ment. Essentially anything a but- ler could get you will be available whether it be a arranging a limo for a special occasion or provid- ing wonderful gourmet food," he said. The Butler retail space will be an inviting area for artists, pho- tographers, caterers and bakers to show their portfolios and wares and will feature items on consign- ment. The Butler will also host semi- nars on subjects as varied as eti- quette on the golf course to spe- cial occasion napkin folding. "For me this will be the palace," said Davidson, who de- cided he will even display his coveted Princess Diana collection pieces at the new salon. "It is all about caring for the world we live in, transforming ourselves and others through beauty internally as well as exter- nally." .00&cqq.
