,+C ', ..... r"' 42 - CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, December 26 - January 1, 1998 Coldwell Banker seizes 'boomer' opportunity Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation has launched its com- prehensive Resort Property Net- work program to coincide with, what studies have shown, an up- coming peak in the home-buying cycle of the "baby boomer" popu- lation. As this generation reaches an age range typical for invest- ment in the leisure market (ages 44 to 52), Coldwell Banker has timed a unique marketing pro- gram for the buying and selling of vacation and second homes. The program provides both printed material and web site services for consumers as well as marketing and educational programs for its network of affiliates. The program includes informa- tional brochures on buying and selling vacation or second homes and a pricing guide which pro- vides average-, low-, medium- and high-range sales prices for the buying and selling for homes in resort markets throughout the na- tion. The printed materials are available free of charge by calling 1-800-366-1222. Since consumers typically have a preference for a particular geo- graphical area when choosing a vacation or pre-retirement home, Coldwell Banker has also estab- lished a unique method for vaca- tion home property searches on the Internet. Coldwell Banker On- line allows customers the option of searching for Resort Property Network homes located in four distinct vacation market types - ocean and shoreline; desert; lake and stream; or mountain - by the click of a user-friendly icon. "While there are certainly other groups interested in purchasing or selling a vacation or second home, the increasingly affluent baby boomers have the strongest buy- ing potential," said Alex Perriello, Coldwell Banker president and CEO. "We are seeing that this group is generally interested in purchasing a resort-market home to fulfill a dual purpose - vacation now, retire later. Coldwell Banker has long been a leader in niche property markets, and we feel this is the perfect time to introduce a comprehensive vacation and sec- ond home program."
