Olson Wilson, Halbrook & Bayard NOTICE NOTICE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS NOTICE OF ELECTION NOTICE The Board of Public Works of The City of Lewes will hold its Annual Election on Saturday, April 4, 1998 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM prevailing time at City Hall, East Third Street, Lewes, DE. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1. A bona fide citizen of the United States and of the State of Delaware and a resident of The City of Lewes for at least ninety (90) days next preceding the date of the annual election for members of the Board of Public Works; and 2. At least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of the annual election for members of the Board of Public Works. METHOD OF CANDIDACY: (filing deadline) All notifications of candidacy must be in writing and filed at the Office of the City Manager during regular business hours of the City on or before the close of business 4:00 PM, Friday, February 6, 1998. QUALIFICATIONS TO VOTE IN THE ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS: 1. Every person, male or female, who shall have attained the age of eighteen (18) years on the date of the said annual election and who shall be a citizen of the United States and a bona fide resident of the City of Lewes or the owner of public lands of the City Council of the City of Lewes for at least thirty (30) days prior to the date of the annual election shall be entitled to vote if such person has registered on the Books of Registered Voters of the Board of Public Works for The City of Lewes. 2. Every non-resident, natural person, male or female who shall have attained the ge of eighteen (18) years on the date of the annual election and who shall be a citizen of the United States and who shall have been a freeholder of property in The City of Lewes or a Leaseholder on public lands under the jurisdiction of The City of Lewes for a period of thirty (30) days immediately preceding the date of the annual election shall be entitled to vote if such a person is registered on the Books of Registered Voters of the Board of Public Works for the City of Lewes. 3. Any person shall be registered upon the Books of Registered Voters if such a person shall have acquired the qualifications to vote in the annual election for the year which such person registers. A person shall be required to register only one time; provided however that if a registered voter fails to vote in two consecutive annual elections in which there is a contest for membership on the Board of Public Works, the name of such person shall be removed from the Books of Registered Voters and that person be required to register again in order to be eligible to vote in the next annual election. 4. The Books of Registered Voters are maintained bythe City Manager and a person may register at the Office of the City Manager during the regular business hours of such office until the close of business 4:00 PM, Friday, March 20, 1998 by completing such forms as may be required by The City of Lewes. 5. A freeholder of property shall be deemed to include any natural person who holds fee simple title to real property in his/her own name or who holds title to an undivided interest in real property or who holds title to real property as a tenant by the entirety. 6. A leaseholder of property shall be deemed to include any natural person who is the holder of a leasehold interest of lands under the jurisdiction of the City Council of The City of Lewes located northeast of the Lewes/Rehoboth Canal between the Broadkill River on the north and Gills Neck Road extended on the south, either in his/her own name or who holds title to an undivided interest in such leasehold.
