Shoup is Chamber
Person of the Year
Joseph Shoup, of Long Neck,
was honored by members of the
Greater Millsboro Chamber of
Commerce as 2000 Chamber
Member of the Year. He received
the award at the chamber's annual
meeting in December.
Shoup serves on the chamber's
board of directors as a vice presi-
dent representing the Long Neck
area. He is president of Indian Val-
ley Carpet Cleaning and board
chairman of the Long Neck Busi-
ness Association (LNBA), an af-
filiate of the chamber.
Candidates for the annual award
are selected entirely by member
nominations and subsequent vot-
ing. Shoup was cited for his serv-
ice to the chamber in membership
recruitment, as a corporate spon-
sor, and assistance in community
events such as the Big Thursday
Festival. He also was recognized
for his efforts in community serv-
ice projects, especially a series of
fundraisers to assist cerebral palsy
victim Amanda Burgess.
Shannahan earns
Level III license
Chesapeake Utilities Corpora-
tion, parent company of Sharp
Water located in Salisbury, Md.,
recently announced that D.J.
Shannahan Jr., vice president of
Sharp Water, has earned his Level
III water treatment plant opera-
tor's license.
With this license, Shannahan
can operate any water plant in the
state of Maryland that utilizes
chlorination, pH control, fluorida-
tion, filtration and iron removal
processes, which include ion ex-
change or contact oxidation.

sought for the park area.
