CAPE GAZETTE, Friday, February 3 - February 9, 1995 - 21 Church 00otes Church Schedule Lewes-Rehoboth Assoc. of Churches planning February evening services The Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches is continuing its 1 l- year tradition of sponsorimz an evenin service and social, for the four Sundays of February. This is a unique opportunity for resort residents to visit the various churches in the association and listen to the pastors serving eastern Sussex County. As an attraction, the host church each week will provide different refreshments. The host church holds its typical Sunday service, including readings and music, while the association provides the principal speaker. All services begin at 7:30 p.m. and are followed by a social hour. The evening ends between 9 and 9:30 p.m. This year's services begin on Sunday, Feb. 5, with the Rev. Philip Sheekey speaking at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes. On Feb. 12, the Rev. Charles Moyer will be at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Rehoboth Beach. The Rev. James Manion will deliver the message at Mt. Pleasant Church in Rehoboth Beach on Feb. 19, and the final program on Feb. 26 will be a "Hymn-a-Long" at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach. Music director Judy Moore will coordinate the choirs of Epworth and Mt. Pleasant churches for a number of selections. The Association of Churches has grown.over the years and has increased its participation and sponsorship of community activities. The October CROP Walk was one of the most successful fund-raisers the association has conducted. The on-going Lend-A-Hand project continues to grow, with 10 family units now receiving assistance. The project is sponsored by pledges and donations from various churches as well as individuals, club and business contributions. A program that shows immediate benefits is the spring/fall work project in which neighbors help neighbors with assistance being given by Habitat for Humanity of Sussex County. In spring, they do home repairs for those unable to do them due to health, age or finances. In fall, they winterize homes. They are currently investigating the possibility of adding a new thrift shop for the community, with proceeds to benefit local organizations. The association meets the second Tuesday of each month at a different church location. Association president AI Glindemann invites all churches to send a representative. The next meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Edmond's Church parish hall in Rehoboth Beach. Edna Harmon benefit set in Rehoboth Everyone is invited to attend a benefit program for Edna M. Harmon at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Rehoboth Beach.
